What’s “Maia?” (MY-ah).

In Greek mythology, Maia is the mother of Hermes, the messenger god. In Roman mythology, Maia is the goddess associated with growth and increase. (The month of May is named after her.) We believe marketing is the nexus of communication and growth, hence “Maia Marketing”—communication + growth + marketing.

Why the stars?

Again in Greek mythology, Maia is one of the Seven Sisters, who were turned into stars and became the constellation called The Pleiades. We just thought that was kind of cool. Hence the stars. Here’s Maia among her stellar sisters:

Andrea Pellegrino, Principal

IMG_7494 - Version 2 Andrea founded The Maia Marketing Group, LLC in June 2000 in order to bring a streamlined, realistic, honest, and effective method to association marketing and consulting that is also highly personalized and customizable. As an expert in building engaged, long-term—and sustainable—relationships between associations and their members and customers, Andrea also builds strong partnerships with her clients.

A marketing professional with more than 25 years market-proven experience in direct response marketing strategic and tactical planning, management, and implementation, Andrea has a long and successful track record of increasing member and customer retention, recruitment, and engagement and of putting associations on a path to growth. She has helped not-for-profit organizations quickly turn their research findings, strategic planning goals, and organization brands into successful, market-driven realities.

Andrea’s career includes both extensive consulting experience and association management experience. She’s been Vice President of AB&C Marketing and Senior Account Executive at Marketing General, Inc. as well as  Vice President for Membership and Marketing at the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives (GWSAE), and Assistant Director of Marketing at the US Chamber of Commerce. Over the course of her career, Andrea has helped more than 50 national and international not-for-profit organizations build engaged and lasting relationships with their audiences and meet their research, communications, and marketing needs. Andrea is a graduate of Georgetown University.
